Junior Section
Junior Captain | Jamie Arthur |
The aim of the Junior Section at Carrickfergus Golf Club is the promotion of junior golf for those under eighteen, both boys and girls.
During the year, the Fred Daly panel receive coaching from the professional for a period of weeks prior to the commencement of the Fred Daly competition, which is an interclub match play competition. During the summer months there is a Stableford points competition arranged by the convenor. These competitions usually take place on a Thursday. There is also a junior match play competition, which is run using a knock out format. In addition to the Fred Daly team, there is also a team which competes in the junior East Antrim League. It is the vision of the convenor and the club that as many juniors as possible get the chance to represent the club through the East Antrim League.
The Junior Section has its own Junior Captain who is appointed every year by the convenor. Towards the end of the summer months, a Junior Captain’s day is held along with a prize-giving day.
The Junior Section is well supported by the members of Carrickfergus Golf Club. It gives me great pleasure to say that other members of the club sponsor the majority of the junior competitions.
Carrickfergus Golf Club is always on the lookout for new junior members. I am sure your son or daughter would enjoy the experience of playing golf at Carrickfergus Golf Club. You can be assured that they will be warmly welcomed into the junior section. We look forward to recruiting new junior members in the near future.
